Tetraploid Annual Italian Ryegrass

Prodigy ryegrass, bred by AGF Seeds, is an annual Italian tetraploid variety with exceptional seedling vigour, very late heading, and high leaf quality. It provides valuable forage from early winter through to late in the growing season and enables excellent pasture utilisation, silage production, and hay quality during the Spring and Summer months.

Prodigy provides valuable forage from early winter through to late in the growing season and enables excellent pasture utilisation, silage production, and hay quality during the spring and summer months. Broadly adapted for medium to high input dairy, sheep and beef systems where the highest performing annual pastures are utilized.
 
Prodigy is a step forward for AGF Seeds as we continue to offer premium late season options for growers. Prodigy will Pinnacle’s successor as our late season premier annual and has shown improvements in late season biomass and later ear emergence. 
 
Region
Broadly adapted for medium to high input Dairy, sheep and beef systems where the highest performing annual pastures are utilized.

Maturity
Very late maturity. In the AGF Seeds 2023 Heading Date Trial (table shown below) in Smeaton Prodigy showed very late ear emergence with great scoring compared to other late season commercial comparators.
