NOW MALT ACCREDITED Maximus is a high yielding, quick-mid Maturing CL barley.

  • Represents an overall improvement compared to Spartacus CL for disease resistance
  • Good net form net blotch resistance
  • Good scald resistance
  • Improved spot form net blotch resistance
  • Strong lodging tolerance and a low-medium head loss risk
  • Excellent grain plumpness (larger than Spartacus CL) and hectolitre weight

EPR $4.25.

RGT Planet

Med – High

Malt

Quick Mat

RGT Planet has a strong agronomic package that, combined with its yield potential, will make it an economic option for Australian barley growers. RGT Planet received full malt accreditation in Australia in March 2019. It already has malt status in many European countries and strong demand from European and Asian brewers. RGT Planet has good disease resistance to mildew, rhincosporum, net blotch and brown rust. It also has good straw strength and reduced risk of lodging.

EPR $4.00.

Fandaga

Med – High

Potential Malt

Mid Mat

Slower maturity than Planet. Showing potential yield advantage in trials. Potentially Malt variety. EPR $3.65.

The result of a breeding program incorporating a wide range of genetic material, Fandaga deliberately has wide adaptation and an ability to maintain specific quality traits across a range of environments. Bred in Germany by Nordsaat Saatzucht GmbH where the philosophy ‘breeding is the future’ is prevalent, Dr Lissy Kuntze’s program focuses on grain yield, durability of performance, disease resistance and physical grain and malting quality. AGF Seeds work with support from breeding partners from around the world including Nordsaat results in the development of high performance varieties with adaptation to Australian conditions. It’s no surprise that the material from the Nordsaat branch found it’s way through the pipeline and is among the top performing varieties in medium and high rainfall environments in Australia given the breadth and scale within the early stages of the program.

Fandaga specifically brings an ability to yield, useful disease resistance traits and specific malting qualities. While malting accreditation is to be completed in Australia Fandaga has gained listing on Heineken N.V’s “green list of preferred varieties“ and there are opportunities while the Australian process for malting accreditation is completed to exploit the genetics and achieve positive results for Australian barley producers. With the net for genetics cast locally and all around the world, AGF Seeds is confident Fandaga and the pipeline of new varieties to come will continue to add value to the Australian crop and compliment the full range of varieties available.

Minotaur

Med-High

Pot Malt

Slow – Mid Mat

Minotaur (tested as AGTB0213) enters the market as a clear step-up from the landmark European variety RGT PlanetP. While RGT PlanetP is a direct introduction from Europe, Minotaur is the result of an Australian by European cross, bringing together European yield potential with Australian adaptation to our tough growing conditions.

  • A lower risk alternative to RGT Planet with similar top-end yield potential
  • Broader adaptation than RGT Planet, delivering more stable yields across a wider range of environmental conditions
  • Has entered the Barley Australia malt accreditation program but is currently deliverable as Barley/Feed

EPR $4.00

Zena CL

Med-High

IMI Tolerant

Mid Mat

  • High yielding, mid-maturing variety
  • Similar yield potential to RGT Planet based on preliminary InterGrain and NVT national yield trials
  • Useful levels of powdery mildew and leaf rust
Adequate grain size and moderate hectolitre weight
  • Similar lodging tolerance and head loss risk to RGT Planet
  • Zena CL has been accepted into the Barley Australia malt accreditation program with the earliest potential malt accreditation in March 2024.

EPR $4.55

Titan AX

Low-Med

Aggressor Tolerant

Mid Mat

Titan AX is the first barley variety in the world to carry tolerance to Aggressor® herbicide (Group 1, Quizalofop-P-Ethyl), which allows growers to control susceptible populations of barley grass, brome grass, annual ryegrass, wild oats and other grass weeds in the barley phase of the rotation; offering an alternative to Clearfield® technology which growers have relied on for some time now.

EPR $4.25

Moby

Low-Med

Rapid Establishment

Multiple Grazings

Moby is an early maturing, 6 row, white seeded awnless barley with excellent winter growth and rapid establishment. Leaf size varies according to environmental conditions and is more comparable with oat varieties than traditional barley types. Moby will tolerate multiple grazings until the production of the first node. Being winter active, Moby offers an extended sowing window compared to forage oats from mid autumn to mid winter. Seedling vigour in Moby is exceptional, being first to grazing in all Pasture Genetics forage cereal trials conducted to date. Moby has shown significant versatility, adapting to a large range of sowing conditions and environments. Disease resistance appears typical of other commercial barley cultivars with good net blotch resistance, adequate field leaf scald and spot blotch resistance.

Neo CL

Med-High

  • Exceptionally high yielding, InterGrain data indicates a 10% yield improvement over RGT Planet
  • Mid-Spring maturity, imidazolinone (IMI) tolerant
  • Outstanding disease resistance package including excellent resistance to cereal cyst nematode, powdery mildew and the spot form of net blotch, and useful resistance to the net form of net blotch and leaf scald.
  • Ideally suited to medium-high rainfall environments
  • Neo has a semi-prostrate early growth habit and a medium plant height
  • Good head retention and good tolerance to lodging and head loss
